Students help feed the county

NEW SWEDEN — Students from the New Sweden School answered the call for cereal from Catholic Charities; when Dixie Shaw announced that cereal was need in the local area, New Sweden fifth- and sixth- graders challenged the rest of the classes to help re-stock the pantries.

The 81 students of the school brought in a total of 136 boxes of cereal — far surpassing their 100 box goal. The donation was presented to Shaw the first week of December.

Jill Plante, instructor of the school who headed the cereal project, stated how pleased she was with the turnout and commented that the students were very excited to help out people in the community.
