LIMESTONE — Staff of the Loring Job Corps Center were recently pleased to feature the success of student Kenneth Hilton on the National Job Corps of America Website, www.jobcorpsnews.org. Hilton is a former graduate of the center who is currently enrolled in the spring semester of 2011 at Northern Maine Community College.

“He is a very motivated, ambitious student and one of the most humble people you’ll ever meet,” said Pamela Buck, business and community liaison and work-based learning coordinator at the Loring Job Corps Center.

Hilton is earning his associates degree in information technology after completing the computer technology training vocation at the Job Corps Center in Miami, Fla. He transferred to Loring almost a year ago and completed the CISCO Academy training vocation this month.

“Kenneth has been a tremendous role model not only as the president of SGA (Student Government Association), but also as an outspoken SGA ambassador who assists any students that may need encouragement or even an answer to a simple questions,” Buck said.

“Every Tuesday at the new student luncheon, Hilton is the student spokesperson for SGA and he delivers a speech that always has the attention of all our new students as he speaks of his advancements successes through his Job Corps training,” she said.

Outside the center, Hilton took on employment as a cashier at the Presque Isle Walmart, but within three months of starting he has begun training with the assistant manager on merchandising and “site-to-store” website delivery applications from Internet orders.

“He is on his way to achieving all his endeavors of receiving advanced training, attending college and is already progressing in his position at Walmart,” Buck said.

Hilton was also a semi-finalist in the National Job Corps Association oratory contest.
