To the editor:
I would like to publicly thank Mr. Gerald Murchison for a good deed that was done last week in Presque Isle. I mistakenly dropped a check that was written to me and I thought it was gone forever. I received a phone call when I returned home, from Mr. Murchison, asking me if I had dropped a check because he found it (stuck to the bottom of his shoe).
It was the day it was raining and cold so the check was in pretty sad shape. Most people would have just thrown it away without a thought.
He looked up my name in the phone book and called. When I met Mr. Murchison, there was something about him that struck me with a good feeling … I just felt he was a Godly man without him ever saying a single word.
The following Sunday, I attended Calvary Baptist Church in Westfield. A lady came up to me and introduced herself as Mr. Murchison’s wife. What a coincidence to have met him on Friday, returning my check, and then seeing him and his family in church on Sunday.
Presque Isle should be proud to have such a good man living in their community. Thank you, Mr. Murchison and God bless you and your family.
