To the editor:
The Caribou Charter Commission met on November 18, 2010 to organize and set a date for the Public Hearing which according to the law must be held within 30 days after the organizational meeting.
The following officers were elected: Chair Patricia Collins, Vice Chair John Swanberg and Secretary Bryan Thompson.
The Public Hearing was set for Wednesday, Dec. 15th at 6:30 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Art Center, Caribou High School. The purpose of this hearing is to receive information, views and comments relative to the Charter from Caribou citizens.
In order to have this hearing proceed in an orderly manner, the Commission requests that those intending to speak submit their topics in writing in advance of the hearing. Topics will be collected in the City Clerk’s Office up until noon, Friday, Dec. 10.
So that all speakers may be heard, there will be a limit of five minutes for each one. In addition the Commission members may ask clarifying questions. The hearing will be recorded; if any speaker wishes to submit a written copy of his/her remarks, the Commission will receive them as part of the record.
The Commission looks forward to receiving input from the public at this hearing.
Patricia Collins, chair
