LIMESTONE — Jump start the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 27 with the annual Holiday Light Parade in Limestone.

“Sounds of the Season” has been chosen for this year’s theme and is sure to strike a chord among holiday enthusiasts,

“Choose your favorite holiday tune to guide you and enter a float, vehicle, or dress your self up and bring some friends!” said Parade Coordinator and Recreation Department Director Amanda Brooker.

Whether potential parade entries choose to jingle bells, hark herald angels or observe a silent night, it’ll be a holly jolly parade for all who attend.

Anyone who watched or participated in last year’s parade could attest that the parade has been growing in festivity and fun for the past few years — last year’s number of parade entries rivaled that of Houlton’s light parade with both featuring about 30 festive floats.

The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. but with so many lights on a variety of vehicles from backhoes, to fire trucks — there was even a decorated outhouse last year entered by the Limestone Water and Sewer Department — the parade is sure to illuminate holiday spirit in even the most humbug of souls.

Prizes will be awarded to the entries with the best theme, best lights, most musical, most creative and the best business entry — but don’t think you have to be from Limestone to win.

The parade is open for all to enter, view and enjoy as well as the Town Tree Lighting with a visit from the jolly old elf St. Nick.

With the spirit of the season comes a spirit of giving, and members of the Limestone Fire Department will be in attendance during the festive evening gathering gifts for their annual Toys for Tots drive.
