Grades 1-2 basketball

A taste of basketball with fundamentals and modified games, this program meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 pm at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.  There are two sessions being offered for grades 1 and 2. Session I meets starting this week through Nov. 17 and session II meets Nov. 29 through Jan. 5. A child may only be registered for one session and must be placed on a waiting list for the second session. Pre-registration is required.

Grades 3-4 basketball

This program is open to boys and girls in grades 3 and 4 and combines skill development and games. Grades 3 and 4 basketball meets Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-4:30 p.m. from Nov. 4 through Jan. 7, 2011. A girl in grade 4 has the choice of being in grade 3 and 4 basketball or the girls grade 4-6 basketball program. Pre-registration is required.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading for grades 5 and 6 starts Dec. 2 and runs through March 24, 2011 and meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 3-5 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Men’s 30-and-over basketball

Men’s 30 and over hoop meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10-12 noon at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This program is designed for gentlemen ages 30 and over. There is a $3 per person fee on Sundays.

Adult volleyball

The recreation department is offering a pick-up volleyball league for area adults on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m. through Jan. 27, 2011. Participants must be out of high school. There is no fee for this program.

Fall/winter program booklets

Please note that the fall/winter program booklets are now available at the recreation office. Registrations are now being accepted for all fall and winter programs. Program details are also available online at www.caribourec.org.

Volunteers sought for Halloween Party

The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking volunteers to assist with the annual Halloween Party slated for Sunday, Oct. 31.

Parks and recreation officials are seeking individuals, businesses or organizations that would be interested in providing a game or activity during the two-hour event. Inquiries should be made at the recreation office at 493-4224.

Walking hours

Walking hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are now Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon-4 p.m.
