The Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp (ATLC) program recently held a Super Supper fundraiser at the Presque Isle Snowmobile Club. Community members, friends and those involved with the camp could buy one of two tickets for the event — a dinner-only ticket, which allowed guests to enjoy a three-entrée meal, or a dinner and prize ticket. Those who purchased a dinner and prize ticket were also guaranteed of receiving a prize valued from $25 to $2,500.
Mistresses of Ceremonies for the Sept. 25 evening event were Christina Hallowell of Presque Isle and Stephanie Dame of Mars Hill, both highschool students who attended an ATLC summer camp program and are now members of the ATLC program staff. Melanie Lagasse of New Sweden and Tim Graham of Mapleton contributed their time to prepare and cook the meal served at the event, along with assistance from other volunteers.
ATLC is a leadership development and drug prevention program serving Aroostook County teens in grades 6 through 9, and is sponsored by Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc. In addition to receiving funding support from County service organizations, businesses and grants, ATLC is now developing several annual local fundraisers throughout the year in an attempt to achieve more financial stability for its future. 2011 will mark the 25th year for the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp program.
“The night went very well,” said Jack Foster, ATLC program coordinator and chair of the Super Supper planning committee, “because this was our first year for this fundraiser, we wanted to start small, conduct a quality event, and hopefully grow in future years.”
“We were very pleased with the support from County businesses in generously providing us with prizes for the evening, and we were pleased with the number of folks attending this initial Super Supper,” he added.
The planning committee has already begun planning for next year’s Super Supper.
Members of the ATLC would like to thank those who donated items for the Super Supper, the volunteer workers throughout the day and evening, members of the planning committee who put in countless hours organizing the event, the guests who attended the Super Supper and those who continue to support the program year after year.
