“Babies and Books,” a reading program introduced to parents of newborns at Cary Medical Center is a collaboration with the Friends of the Caribou Public Library.
The “Babies and Books” program provides the family with their baby’s first library card, a variety of hand-outs which offer tips and suggestions for age appropriate activities. Participants also receive a free board book and an invitation to attend “Mother Goose Time” at the Caribou Library, from the time the baby is born with a certificate of completion awarded when the child reaches his/her first birthday.
Once they have turned one year of age, a book with that child’s name in it is placed in the children’s section of the Caribou library, stating they have completed the “Babies and Books” Program.
The following babies recently graduated from the “Babies and Books” program: Micah Cyr, Caledonia Fisher and Matthew Bouchard.
