The Hornets mounted a furious second-half attempt, but were unable to crease the net as Washburn goalie Rayah Saucier preserved the shutout. Meaghan Saucier also saw some time in the net, making two saves for Washburn.

Rayah Saucier had four saves on eight shots for Washburn.
Fort Kent 1, Caribou 1 (2 OT) — At Caribou Aug. 25 in a rain-soaked game, Mary Morris notched the game-tying goal with 15:32 left in the game as Fort Kent battled to a tie with Caribou through two overtime periods. Michela Desjardins picked up the assist on the goal for the Warriors. Crissa Pelletier made 25 saves on 32 shots.
Meredith Sleeper scored for Caribou with 16:39 left in the first half on an assist from Jenna Selander. Morgan Swan blocked eight of 12 shots.
“We created some good opportunities, but we just have to turn some of those opportunities into goals,” Caribou coach Todd Albert said. “The rain was not good for our style of play, but we have to get better at playing in adverse conditions. The girls worked hard, I was pleased with the effort they put forth, just a little disappointed in the result. Sometimes you can outplay and outshoot a team and not win. We got a tie out of it and Fort Kent is a good team that will be worth some points, so we’ll try to beat them up there later in the season.”
