Diane Dubois, director of the Caribou Public Library has announced the library will be sponsoring a book discussion group beginning Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the first book which will be discussed on that date will be, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” by Harper Lee.
The Caribou Public Library’s Book Discussion Group will be meet on a monthly basis, with the schedule of books to be read and discussed include: Oct. 13, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” by Jules Verne; Nov. 10, “All’s Quiet on the Western Front,” Erich Maria Remarque; Dec. 8, “A Town Like Alice” by Nevil Shute; Jan. 12, “Angela’s Ashes,” Frank McCourt; Feb. 9, “The Old Man and the Sea,” Ernest Hemingway; March 9, “Shipping News,” Annie Proulx; and April 13, “Chocolat” by Joann Harris.
The book for the May 11 session will be announced at a later date.
In addition to reading these books, participants are encouraged to view the movie version of the title, as part of the discussion, if they so choose. Movies are available via the library’s collection.
