Robyn M. Smith of Caribou, owner of Dubbah Design, is the newest member of the Halfway Home Pet Rescue, Inc. (HHPR). Originally from southern Maine, Smith grew up in northeastern Ohio. She served in the Air Force for 10 years and has traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Although never stationed at Loring AFB, she decided to make Aroostook County her home after graduating from UMPI in 1988. Smith stated that she loves living in The County and recently learned she has ancestral roots in the area.
Smith works for Academic Web Pages of Connecticut, as a maintenance manager, building and maintaining more than 100 websites for university departments across the country.
According to Smith, “When I first settled in the Caribou area, I met Norma and Everett Milton at Home Farm Kennels where I would occasionally board my dogs. Sadly, my dogs are all gone now, but three amazing cats now take care of my family and me. I’ve always felt connections with animals and have supported other animal causes over the years. It was inevitable I would find Halfway Home Pet Rescue.”
“My mother, Roberta Corp, is also an active supporter of HHPR,” said Smith. “I reconnected with Norma at one othe HHPR yard sales and as it turned out, they were in need of a website. I’m happy to say the website I created has been very well received and continues to gain interest. I’m delighted to be involved with this great group of compassionate and dedicated volunteers,” Smith added.
Milton, president of HHPR, said she is very pleased to have Smith on the board of directors of the pet rescue. “Robyn’s talent and expertise at web design has increased our shelter’s visibility and, therefore, increased our adoption rate. She also keeps our information updated on the national Petfinder.com, designs various flyers and posters for the group and also troubleshoots any computer problems I might have in getting our publicity out to the public.”
Robyn has a good deal of talent, common sense and is very much in agreement with the total goals of HHPR,” said Milton, adding that having a board of directors that actively works well together for common goals is a huge plus. “Each board member has come to HHPR with specific talents needed to keep our work moving onward, Robyn’s expertise will help us reach out to the pets who have the greatest needs.”
HHPR is a state licensed animal shelter and a federal 501c3 organization.
