NMVC dedication ceremony, Aug. 23

Harry Hafford, president of the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery Association in Caribou has announced that there will be a brief outside dedication ceremony held at the NMVC on the Lombard Road in Caribou on Monday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m.

The event is being held to dedicate the latest addition of columbarium niches now in place at the cemetery, which were funded by the Veterans’ Administration. The VA was also responsible for the niches on the first  columbarium wall when the cemetery originally opened.

The NMVC Association provided the funding for the second wall of niches.    

Hafford stated that the dedication ceremony is open to the public and he invites everyone to attend.

Guests of honor for the afternoon event will include Frank Salva, director of the State Federal Cemetery Grant program, from the VA office in Washington, D.C.; Maj.Gen.  John W. Libby, representing the Direct VA Services of Maine and Dave Richmond, supervisor of the Maine Veterans Cemeteries.
