American Flag ColorWilliamsburg, Va. – Dr. G. William Bullock, Jr. died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at home, with family members by his side.

Professor Bullock completed his fortieth year of service to education in America when he retired from the College of William and Mary in the spring of 1992, having dedicated twenty-five of the years to the College’s School of Education. Throughout those years, he distinguished himself as a rigorous thinker, a demanding teacher, a formidable colleague, an uncompromising scholar, and a continuing student in his chosen field of educational administration.

He was a veteran of military service in the United States Marine Corps.

Dr. Bullock was predeceased by his youngest son, David Brian Bullock. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Jenny) Qualls Bullock; a son, Stephen Bullock of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Elizabeth Bullock Diakun (Alan) of Charlotte, N.C., and Margaret Ann Bullock Walker (Jim) of Richmond, Va.; five grandsons, Stephen Adam Bullock, Nicholas Charles Diakun, Christopher Willard Walker, James Cameron Marshall Walker, Avery Matthew Walker and one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Diakun.

Burial was at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 3 at Williamsburg Memorial Park. A Celebration of Dr. Bullock’s Life was held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3 in the Wren Chapel at the College of William and Mary. A reception followed in the Great Hall of the Wren Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Nelsen Funeral Home.
