To the editor:
As a taxpaying citizen of Caribou, I am amazed at the fact that our elected councilors feel that there isn’t any need to have a charter commission. What are they afraid of? Did not the citizens of Caribou make their wishes known? The councilors — Dave Martin, Chris Bell, Karla Bell, John Boone and Kate Barbosa with our mayor, Ken Murchison — are they not supposed to be working for the best interest of the citizens of Caribou? It makes me wonder whose interest they are working for.
It is even more amazing that though they feel that we don’t need a charter commission, a member of this council, with an already decided mindset, is appointed to be on this commission. Can he keep an open mind? I hope so.
This city needs clear-thinking individuals who have the citizens’ interest uppermost in their dealings.
