Anyone who has never allowed themselves a few hours to attend one of the Maine Dance Academy’s annual recitals doesn’t know they are missing an amazing event — and the MDA’s 16th Annual Recital , held May 14—16 at the Caribou Performing Arts Center was no exception.

Members of the Maine Dance Academy during the annual May recital, which featured nearly 300 young performers.
With an estimated 300 talented young dancers filling the stage non-stop, performing dance styles from country, point ballet, Hip-Hop, Irish clogging and boogie-woogie to jazz and soft shoe, if the music and brilliant costumes don’t get to you then the pure talent, grace and poise that these young ladies and gents display will no doubt have you mesmerized.
This year’s presentation by the Maine Dance Academy, with the theme, “The Sound of Music,” was choreographed by Colleen Duplissie, Clarann Flynn, Danielle Atcheson-Peterson and Jessica Chapman. The event was dedicated to Kori Ellis, who died in a car accident last fall and whose daughters, Mariah, Skyler and Calie are dance students at the MDA.
The pictures shown with this article are only a few of the spectacular performances that took place during the three- day recital. Individual troupe photos (with the dancers names), taken by Fallan Robertson, will appear as space becomes available in future editions of the Aroostook Republican.
