Northeast Society for Human Resource Management plans employment conference for Sept. 16

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Northeast Society for Human Resource Management (NESHRM) is pleased to announce that the 14th annual Employment Law & Human Resource Conference will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. This conference is designed for everyone from small business to large corporation, including: small business owners, managers, supervisors, executives and human resource professionals.     The conference theme is “The Employment Process — From Hiring to Firing.” Scheduled presenters include Deborah Gallant, president of d.gallant Management Associates speaking on Recruitment, Hiring & Retaining Talent: Selecting the Right Person for the Job; Frank McGuire, Esquire and Anne-Marie Storey, Esquire, partners at Rudman & Winchell, will present information on the Maine Human Rights Commission & EEOC and the Do’s & Don’ts of Termination; Alison Hinson, MBA and financial wellness coach, will discuss More Than a 401(k) Plan; and Sarah Conroy, SHRM Maine State government affairs director, will provide a legislative update. Lunch is provided for seminar attendees and various vendors will have displays and information available.        
NESHRM is an affiliate of the national HR organization, The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Chapter meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. at the Edmunds Conference Center at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle. Meetings are open to anyone in the Aroostook County area in the HR profession. The meeting programs and speakers address pertinent HR management and legislative issues.
