The Caribou Historical Society will be holding its annual Open House on Saturday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by at the museum located on Route 1, south of Caribou on the Presque Isle Road, and enjoy the l museum displays, peruse the authentic replica of a 1860s one-room schoolhouse, tour the renovated garage filled with interesting historical artifacts and walk the trails near the facility. Within the main building there are books available for purchase describing the early days of Caribou, written by local authors. To supplement these books there are approximately 30 free pamphlets to select from that also provide an introduction to the early settlers of Caribou.
Joe Bouchard, Caribou Historical Society president, reminds all guests and visitors to plan for time and take a leisurely stroll over the Harriet Cousins Nature Trails, cross over the newly constructed bridge that crosses a babbling book and take in the impressive perennial flower garden, located directly behind the museum.
“Bring the family, everyone is welcome to attend this educational and entertaining event,” said Bouchard, “make this a family affair and enjoy the free refreshments.”
