The green Chevy truck had flipped and rolled down a steep embankment on Tuesday afternoon, causing its driver to be transported in serious condition to a Bangor hospital.
Within hours, he was taken by ambulance to a Bangor hospital as the weather hindered helicopter travel.
Emergency workers initially thought that the Jaws of Life would be needed to extract the gentleman from his vehicle, but rescuers were able to remove the unresponsive man without additional technological assistance.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The Maine State Crash Team is currently investigating what caused the man and his truck to careen through a barrier and down the steep hill.
Caribou Police Officer Matheson was the first police officer on the scene, responding after the crash was called in by a witness.
Responding to the scene were members of the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department, State Trooper Todd Stetson and Game Warden Ryan Fitzpatrick.
