Red Hat Society luncheon helps raise barn

On Saturday, May 22, local residents may be seeing red as members of the Aroostook County Red Hat Society and guests come to Caribou.      A luncheon, sponsored by the Caribou Historical Society and Cindy’s Sub Shop, will be held at the American Legion Post “featuring chicken stew or seafood chowder prepared by the excellent chefs at Cindy’s,” according to Joe Bouchard organizer of the event and president of the historical society.
Following the luncheon, Red Hats members, friends and community members will be entertained by a variety of local talent including the Main Event, Cindy Edgecomb, Chloe Wheeler and Carmen Dickinson with Dick Barker.
All Red Hat Society members will receive a red carnation complimented by a lavender ribbon, provided by Phil’s Florist.
Bouchard said there will also be a 50-50 raffle as well as several other door prizes. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Caribou Historical Society’s barn project. The group is in the process of raising funds to construct a barn which will house farm machinery and equipment donated to the society by our farmers. The new barn would also be used to store the Conestoga Wagon, used in Caribou’s Centennial and Sesquicentennial celebrations and other community events.
Tickets for the luncheon are $10 and may be purchased at the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cindy’s Sub Shop or from Bouchard. Advance sale of tickets is encouraged to assist in planning for the meal.
RSVPs should be confirmed by Monday, May 17.
