LIMESTONE — Michael Jalbert, 29, of Fort Fairfield has been with the Limestone Fire Department for 4 years. He is a full-time firefighter/EMT and a Captain with the Fort Fairfield Fire Department.     Mike started his firefighting career in 1999 when he followed in his family’s footsteps and became a volunteer firefighter in Fort Fairfield.
Mike knows that firefighting is a very rewarding job that can be very demanding at times.
“It is important for the community to recognize the dedication, commitment, service and professionalism of our volunteer firefighters to their community,” he said, mentioning that the role of a firefighter is always changing. “Responding to emergencies is what we are mostly known for, but more time is spent training, developing training and putting on fire prevention and fire safety classes.”
“The volunteer firefighter are the backbone of the fire service,” Mike added.
He enjoys fishing and fourwheeling when he can get away from the fire department.
With a baby on the way, Mike and his wife, Peggy, are looking forward to meeting the newest addition to their family.
