Roger Joseph Cyr, 83, Ocala, Fl. went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2010, under the loving care of family and Marion County Hospice at Legacy House in Ocala, FL. Mr. Cyr was born August 6, 1926, in Caribou, Maine to Joseph E. and Mary Cyr. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army 5th Cavalry Regiment in the South Pacific. He was a Liquor Store Manager for the State of Maine Liquor Commission. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou, Maine and Life member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post in Caribou Maine. Mr. Cyr and his wife moved to Ocala two years ago from Caribou, Maine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys E. Cyr of Ocala, Fl.; two sons, Roger A. “Butch” Cyr and wife, Theresa of Ocala, Fl., and Edgar R. “Eddie” Cyr and wife, Lorraine of Skowhegan; brother, Clifford Cyr of South Carolina; sister, Ruth Helenski of Ocala, FL.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Mary Cyr and brother Malcolm “Mac” Cyr.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala, FL. A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in loving memory of Roger J. Cyr to Hospice of Marion County.
