LIMESTONE — With a respectable agenda that kept deliberations going for about two hours during the Limestone Selectpeople’s meeting on April 7, many agenda items were tabled until the next meeting due primarily to either further information needed or lack of a full board. Selectpeople Mary Morin, Wade McLaughlin and chair Walt Elliott discussed the municipal draft budget, the recall ordinance for elected officials, and an option for an Art Folk School. The municipal draft budget and the proposed ordinance were tabled until the next meeting, and the Selectpeople agreed that further information regarding the economic development possibilities of an Art Folk School required additional information before the Selectpeople could act. Selectpeople absent from the meeting were Jim Leighton and Fred Pelletier.
Town Manager Donna Bernier presented her Manager’s Report to the selectpeople; her report included a recent request by the Public Works employees to adjust their hours, the status of a nearly finalized lighting grant through Efficiency Maine, an introduction to the elected official workshop coming up in Houlton, and the annual Greater Limestone Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year Banquet starting at 5:30 p.m. on April 15 at the Loring Job Corps Ballroom. She also mentioned the donation of weaving tools to the town for the proposed Art Folk School, and discussed automatic backup options for the municipal computer system.
The next meeting of the Limestone Selectpeople is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Limestone Municipal Building.
