Dawn F. Barnes Elementary School

    Dawn F. Barnes Elementary School opened in 1973 with Dawn F. Barnes as the principal. There are about 43 kids in the school, but when the school first opened there were 180 students.     The first three teachers were Ms. Grass, Ms. Barnes, and Ms. Johnson. Bret O’Neal taught sixth, seventh, and eighth. Ms. Barnes taught fifth grade and Ms. Johnson taught first grade. Ms. Grass taught fourth grade. The bus driver was Ken Stackhouse, the janitor was Mr. Bell and the cooks were Stella Edgecomb and Jean St. Pierre. Ms. Barnes was also the principal 36 years ago.
    Now there are William Dobbins the superintendent, Charles Hartman the principal, Debbie Blanchet second and third grade teacher, Krystina Davenport fourth and fifth grade teacher, Brandy Brissette pre K, kindergarden, and first grade teacher, Ryan O’Neal PE teacher, Roberta Hathaway Special Ed teacher, Nancy Todd librarian, Nancy Martin title Ed Tech, Diane Deeves secretary, Gilbert King bus driver, Travis Peers janitor and Jean St.Pierre cook. That’s the Dawn F. Barnes School’s history.
