Caribou Fire Chief Roy Woods recently appointed Ann King, CCRN-IP, as the newest Caribou Fire and Ambulance honorary member. King is a nurse at the Cary Medical Center where she is in charge of infection control for the facility.
“Ann is the first female to be chosen in the history of the department as an honorary member,” stated Chief Woods, “ she has become number 12 on the honorary members list.”
According to Woods, honorary members of the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department are either long-standing members who have retired in good standing or individuals who have displayed a great deal of support for the department in the form of financial, goods or services.
“Over the years Ann has provided a large amount of time teaching medical programs needed to keep our EMTs licensed,” said Woods, “by doing that, we have been able to provide in-house training and have not had to send our members out of the area to maintain their annual training requirements.”
“We are very fortunate to have Ann as an honorary member,” added Woods, “she is also a critical-care flight nurse for Cary Medical Center and our department, traveling on many of the air ambulance transfers for both departments.”
