The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department has joined forces with the Caribou Country Club to get a jump-start on spring by offering golf lessons. Golf lessons are being offered to youths in grades 5-8 and will run from March 23-April 14. The program meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:15-6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
This fundamental instruction clinic is offered to boys and girls ages 9-12. Each session deals with the mechanics and the breakdown of individual positions on a baseball team. This program runs from March 22-April 15. Ages 9-10 meets Monday and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. and ages 11-12 meets Tuesday and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
This program introduces youths to the basic fundamentals of running, throwing and jumping. Boys and girls participating in the program may be eligible to move onto the regional finals. This program is for boys and girls ages 9-14 and runs from April 26 through June 10. The program meets Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
Walking hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturdays.
The game room is open for youths from 3-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturdays. The game room houses pool tables, ping pong tables, a foosball table, an air hockey table and board games.
Adult volleyball
The recreation department will offer a pick-up volleyball league for area adults on Thursdays from 6:30-9 p.m. This program meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym weekly through April 29. Participants must be out of high school and there is no fee.
Men’s 30-and-over basketball meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon. The program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and older and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. There is a fee of $3 per player on Sundays only.
There are eight miles of groomed trails with set track. The trails are in excellent condition. The Caribou Ski Trails are located by the Caribou Country Club off Route 161, approximately three miles north of Caribou.
Lift tickets to Big Rock Ski Area are available through the recreation office. The cost is $24 for adults and $20 for juniors.
