HERMON – The Big East Conference handed out its basketball awards March 6, and the Caribou and Presque Isle teams were well represented.

Making the all-conference first team for girls were Jenna Selander of Caribou, Kayla Richards of Presque Isle and Chandler Guerrette of Presque Isle. They were joined by Megan Phelps of MDI and Ashley Thayer of Hermon.
Selected to the second team was Chelsea Nickerson of Presque Isle, along with Sara Carroll of MDI, Ashley Abbott of Old Town and Brooke Hanscom and Jessica Fortin, both of Mattanawcook Academy.
Receiving honorable mention were Sadie Wright of Bucksport, Taylor Hawkins of Mattanawcook Academy, Taylor Edgecomb of John Bapst, Sarah Stanley of Ellsworth and Victoria Davenport and Danielle Ross, both of Hermon.
Making it on the boys’ all-conference first team were Cameron Anderson of Caribou and Travis Dyer of Presque Isle. Others on the elite squad were Ryan Petros of Ellsworth and Luke Bartlett and Josh Boucher, both of Old Town.
On the second team were Nate Ackerson of Presque Isle and Matt Till of Caribou. The rest of the second team includes Colton Gross and Taylor Gross, both of Hermon, and Jason Burke of MDI.
Gaining honorable mention were Dillon Kingsbury of Presque Isle along with Brad Folmer of Ellsworth, Brandon Flegel of Bucksport, Wayne Campbell of Mattanawcook Academy and Caleb McDonald of MDI.
Both Presque Isle teams were honored as conference champions and the Caribou girls and Presque Isle boys captured the sportsmanship awards. Jeff Hudson of Presque Isle was named girls’ coach of the year.
Megan Phelps of MDI and Ryan Petros of Ellsworth were the choices for players of the year. Marty Clark of Old Town was tabbed the boys’ coach of the year.
Each team also had a Scholar-Athlete, Paul Soucy Spirit Award and Defensive Award recipient.
On the girls’ side, Danielle Violette of Caribou and Kelsey Park of Presque Isle were the scholar-athlete honorees, while Danielle Soucy of Caribou and Elizabeth Kofstad of Presque Isle came away with the spirit awards and Brittany Doak of Caribou and Chelsea Nickerson of Presque Isle the defensive awards.
For boys, Evan Susee of Caribou and Ryan Bernier of Presque Isle were the scholar-athletes, Jon Ouellette of Caribou and Keenan Eaton the spirit award winners and Cameron Anderson of Caribou and Dillon Kingsbury of Presque Isle the defensive award recipients.
