CARIBOU – Ronald J. Martin Sr., 68, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 2, 1941, in Stockholm, the son of Joseph and Sadie (Chamberlain) Martin. Ronald worked for many years in construction and also for Warren Anderson on the farm. Ronald thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding snowsleds and ATVs, and was a very avid bingo player at the American Legion.
He is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Martin and Vicky Martin both of Canton, Conn., and Carrie Ann Doustou of Bangor; a son, Mark Martin of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Jesse and Theron Willard, Makayla Arias, Kristee Bison. He also leaves behind three brothers, Roland Martin of California, Victor Martin and Clinton Martin both of Conn.; three sisters, Reona Porter of Patten, Viola Caron, Arlene Martin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Ronald Martin Jr.; four brothers, Walter, Allen, Alsime, and Milton Martin; a sister, Cecile Peterson; and a special companion of many years, Gloria Martin.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating. Friends called from 12 noon until time of service. A committal service will take place in the spring at St. Theresa's Catholic Cemetery.
