Eva Bess Wright, age 68, passed away December 26, 2009, at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, Mass., from complications of recent multiple strokes.
She was born January 27, 1941, in Neptune, New Jersey the daughter of Joseph and Sadie Schwartz.
She married Freeman Wright Jr. on July 3, 1983, in Pittsfield, Mass. in their backyard under their big apple tree. Eva earned her nursing degree in New York and first worked as an RN in Los Angeles. After she obtained her Masters degree, she worked as an instructor at the University of Hawaii. Prior to retiring, Eva worked as a nurse practitioner in Pittsfield, Mass. She later returned to teach five more years at the University of Hawaii before retiring in 1996.
In retirement, Eva and Freeman enjoyed pulling their 5th wheel frequently with other RV'ers and belonged to the Escapees RV group, traveling to many national parks and visiting friends and family. They especially enjoyed spending their winters in Hawaii. Eva loved reading, hiking, and traveling to visit family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Freeman Wright, Jr. (Sonny) of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Audrey Spencer and her husband, Mark of Andover, Mass. with their children, Leah, Cole and Jason Spencer; her son, Robert Golden of Portland, Oregon; her sister, Eleanor Schwartz of Lompoc, California; nephew, Alan and wife, Ava Gonick and son, Alex from Ontario, California; nephew, Jerry and wife, Stephanie Schneiderman and family from Dobbs Ferry, New York; her extended family, Freeman Wright of Caribou, Maine; Duane and Gloria (Wright) Mishler and family of Stillwater, New York; Don and Cindy (Wright) Blanchette and family of Woodland, Maine; Roger & Lynn Haines and family of Caribou, Maine. Eva was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Sadie Schwartz, her sister, Anita Schneiderman and her brother, Arthur Schwartz.
Her funeral was on Wednesday, December 30 in Long Island, New York. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in memory of Eva Bess Wright to your local public library. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford, Mass.
