AUGUSTA — The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security (OEIS) conducted its seasonal oil survey and found that the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil to be at $2.67 per gallon, up seven cents from last week. “Noticeably colder weather in the U.S together with strengthening economic indicators continue to place upward price pressure on oil. Maine consumers should continue to conserve energy in all forms,” said OEIS Director, John Kerry. “All Maine consumers should take steps to weatherize their homes, reduce energy consumption and create an energy budget for this year’s heating season.”
The average price of heating oil in northern Maine was $2.86, with a high of $2.89 and a low of $2.85. The average price of kerosene was $3.26.
