LIMESTONE — With more floats, lights and Christmas songs than you could shake a candy cane at, the Limestone Lights Parade was again a bright point of the season in spreading holiday cheer.

The Edgecomb Farms entry won “Best Theme” in the Limestone Light Parade; among other items, the float featured a nativity theme, Santa Claus, and reindeer. According to Bob Edgecomb, who drove the truck, it took them a few hours to decorate the float together.
Sponsored by the Greater Limestone Chamber of Commerce (GLCC), parade entries surpassed last year’s numbers with 29 highly decorated floats; seasonal ornamentation and colorful lights were taped, wound, glued and stapled to flat bed trucks, trailers, semi-trucks and go carts. This year’s theme was “believe,” Personal vehicles lined the streets filled with precipitation-weary spectators, though many parade viewers donned their winter apparel and enjoyed the parade from sidewalks and porches.
Between the guest appearance of Santa Claus at the Limestone Christmas Tree Lighting, the Carols, the joyful floats and the cheerful Seasonal music pumped through Main Street speakers by Good Vibrations, all traces of humbug seemed to have left Limestone that evening.
President of the GLCC Scott Caldwell was pleased to announce the winners of the Light Parade; this year’s Parade theme was “believe, and Edgecomb Farms won “Best Theme” for their float that featured a nativity scene, Santa Claus and his sleigh, a Christmas tree and a snowman.
Like last year, the Limestone Fire Department won “Best Lights” for their numerous highly illuminated entries.
Brooker’s won “Best Business Entry” for their highly decorated entry that included two Limestone youths driving light-adorned go carts along side the float and others distributing candy canes to spectators.
