Chronic disease self-management program offered

    The Aroostook Medical Center in coordination with the Aroostook Agency on Aging, is offering a free  six-week self-management program beginning Thursday, Oct. 8, for anyone living with a chronic disease such as asthma, arthritis, cancer, COPD, heart failure, diabetes, depression, or obesity.  Participants will learn to cope with and manage health problems by: setting logical goals; working with others; finding support and solutions to problems; making daily tasks easier; relaxing and managing stress and working in partnership with a healthcare team.
    After completing the course, participants will be better prepared to cope with sadness, deal with pain and tiredness, eat for better health, manage medications, talk with family, friends, and health care providers and relax and enjoy life.
    All classes will be held in the conference room at the Fort Fairfield Health Center. Participants are encouraged to bring a family member, friend, or caregiver. Pre-registration is required.
