Caribou residents recently were able to take 12 — as in a dozen roses — when Kimber and Cindy Noyes, owners of Noyes’ Flower and Plant Shoppe, on Franklin St., participated in the annual FTD Good Neighbor Day on Sept. 10.

Caribou was smelling like roses on Sept 10, thanks to the generosity of Kimber and Cindy Noyes, owners of Noyes’ Flower and Plant Shoppe on Franklin St.

The proprietors at the well-known flower shop were giving away a dozen red or yellow roses to anyone who stopped by the shop beginning at 8 a.m. but there was a hidden thorn — anyone taking advantage of the free roses had to be sure to give 11 of them away, keeping one for themselves.
“We hadn’t done this promotion in a few years and thought this was a perfect time to hold it again, especially since this is Caribou’s 150th birthday,” said Kimber Noyes. “We hope that the people of Caribou would be able to get acquainted with new people or would renew an old friendship during the FTD Good Neighbor Day. We hoped to help create a friendlier, more caring and compassionate world, starting right here in Caribou. We also wanted to wish Caribou, Happy 150th Birthday.”
The Noyes, by 9 a.m., had already seen nearly 33 dozen roses leave their shop and said they had an estimated 65-70 dozen to give away in all.
It was expected that hundreds of FTD Florists in North America would be participating in the 15th annual Good Neighbor Day, giving away millions of free flowers, celebrating goodwill toward all people.
