Limestone – Albert Sloan, 80, passed away September 17, 2009, at EMMC in Bangor after a brief illness. He was born on June 9, 1929 in Limestone, the son of Hilkiah and Emma (Thompson) Sloan.
Albert was a graduate of Limestone High School, and served in the United States Air Force. He then went on to a 35 year career as a computer systems analyst at Loring Air Force Base.
Albert was active for many years in the Limestone Jaycees, and served several terms on the Limestone School Board. He also served on the board of The County Federal Credit Union.
Albert is predeceased by his wife, Jacquelyn, who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Patrice Leavitt, and her husband, John, of Cumberland, ME; two brothers, Allen Sloan of Winslow, ME, and Phillip Sloan, and his wife, Janet, of Andover, MA; four sisters, Beverly Bryant of Caribou, ME, Patricia Boltseridge of Beverly, NJ, Mae Daniels of Sanford, ME, and Pauline Spivey, and her husband, Troy, of Wichita Falls, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Geneva (Sally) Mead of Presque Isle, ME.
A memorial service will be held September 22, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Limestone Methodist Church, with Pastor Ellen Cleaves, officiating. A private interment will be in the St. Louis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Robert Frost Memorial Library Building & Endowment Fund, 42 Main St., Limestone, ME 04750.
