Walking hours
Walking hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center through Sept. 30, are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Game room
The game room is open for youths from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The game room houses pool tables, ping pong tables, a foosball table, an air hockey table and board games.
Open gym
The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center offers area youth a halfcourt basketball area to shoot hoops from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Take It Outside Seniors Series
On Sept. 24, a trip will be offered for seniors ages 55 and older to the Presque Isle School Farm.
Participants will tour the cider press and the pick a half-peck of apples. Lunch will be provided at the Oriental Pearl then off to Putnam’s Pumpkin Patch for a horse drawn wagon ride, pumpkin hunt, and cocoa or apple cider and popcorn.
The trip leaves at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. The cost is $20 and pre-registration is required.
Adult volleyball
The recreation department will offer a pick-up volleyball league for area adults on Thursdays from 6:30-9 p.m. This program meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym beginning Oct. 15, and will continue through April 29, 2010. Participants must be out of high school and there is no fee.
Men’s 30 and over basketball
Men’s 30-and-over basketball meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon beginning Oct. 13, and running through April 27, 2010. The program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and older and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. There is a fee of $3 per player on Sundays only.
