This mystery item is one of the 10,000 interesting artifacts on display at the Whittier Memorial Museum and Learning Center in Caribou. Visitors are encouraged to tour both floors of the museum. Re-live simpler times in the one-room school house and peruse through the museum garage that is packed full of unique tools and equipment. Take a relaxing walk down the Harriet Cousins Memorial Nature Trail and enjoy the perennial flower garden now in full bloom. The historical museum is also available to research events and articles.
Admission is free and groups and visitors of all ages are welcome. Summer hours are Thursday through Saturday from noon to 4 p. m.
There were four correct responses received simultaneously regarding the last mystery item. Consequently, it was necessary to draw a name to determine a winner. Congratulations to Marty Doody of Caribou for correctly identifying the artifact as a tire bead breaker. Marty will receive a $10 gift certificate, which was generously donated by Frederick’s Restaurant.
