Established in 1987, County Physical Therapy (CPT) has been an important part of Caribou’s business community for the past 22 years. Founded by Physical Therapist Mark Rossignol, CPT has evolved and seen many changes, but Rossignol remains committed to providing a quality rehabilitation choice for area residents.
County Physical Therapy first opened its doors at Vaughn Place on Hatch Drive in the former Caribou Hotel building. At that location, CPT developed a county-wide reputation for delivering premium physical therapy, and attracted patients from all over Aroostook County. In 1997, CPT opened a second location in Presque Isle, and subsequently opened clinics in Madawaska, Fort Kent and Houlton.
In Caribou, after 18 years at Vaughn Place, CPT moved to its present location in the Caribou Shopping Plaza on Bennett Drive in 2005, renovating the longtime home of Paradis IGA. At this expanded location, CPT not only doubled the size of their rehab space, but added a fitness center open to the public and administrative space. The current Caribou location continues to serve as the headquarters for CPT, which has grown to a nearly 50-employee operation across their five locations.
County Physical Therapy has also evolved their services over the past 22 years. In addition to the core service of physical therapy, CPT now offers occupational therapy, workplace services such as ergonomic evaluations and functional capacity evaluations, and specialty services such as lymphedema and cancer rehab.
As Caribou celebrates its 150th birthday, Rossignol considers himself fortunate and proud to be part of this city’s business community. “What I remember most about all my years as a physical therapist are the people I have met and had the privilege to work with. Each new patient that comes in is another chance to make an impact on that person’s quality of life,” he said.
