Bernier is new public works director for The County

 Image   Effective as of June 8, Paul Bernier has been the new Public Works Director for the Unorganized Territory. The county commissioners unanimously approved the hiring of Paul Bernier as the new public works director on May 20 at their meeting in Houlton from a pool of 25 other candidates.     Bernier left his post as regional community development director for Frenchville and St. Agatha to assume his new position, where he will oversee road maintenance issues, negotiations with contractors and administrative grant programs.
    “I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as Public Works Director for the County of Aroostook,” said Bernier. “Undoubtedly, I will encounter new challenges in this job. However, I am up to the talk. I am confidant that my past experiences will be of great benefit an help make this transition a smooth one,” he added. The commissioners expressed confidence that he will make an impressive mark at the county-wide level based on his expertise. In his former position for the two towns, he has pulled in $6 million in grants that approach $9 million when matching funds are included.
    Bernier currently resides in Frenchville with his family.
