CARIBOU — Resident registration for summer programs through the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will begin tonight at 6 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Supt. of Parks and Recreation Kathy Mazzuchelli noted that all registrations are done in person primarily because not everyone has a home computer or Internet access. The Parks and Recreation staff will typically process over 1,000 registrations in about 93 minutes, Mazzuchelli noted. She also indicated that it is a great equalizer and quite a social event. In the past, many residents begin lining up for registration four hours in advance, which creates some issues with others who don’t get out of work until 5 or 6 p.m. Mazzuchelli noted that the Wellness and Recreation Center will be locked down today at 2:30 p.m. and reopen at 5:30 p.m. for line up and registration.
Program booklets were disseminated through the Caribou schools in May and include registration forms. Persons who did not receive a booklet will be able to pick one up at the Wellness and Recreation Center. Additional registration forms will also be available.
Non-resident registration will begin Thursday, June 18 at 9 a.m. at the Wellness and Recreation Center and all registration will continue from that point. No phone registrations can be accepted as parents must complete the required registration form and supply payment for some programs at the time of registration.
This year, the CRX program will not be counted as a program included in the normal $75 annual fee for nonresidents. Mazzuchelli indicated that due to the expense of the program and the fact that outside funding that assisted with tuitioning students from Union 122 had been lost so the CRX fees will be stand-alone fees. No additional fees will be required by non residents who register only for the CRX component.
