Berube, Beverly Jean, 44, Limestone, June 6, 2009. Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.
LIMESTONE, Maine – Beverly ‘Bobi’ Jean Berube, 44, died early in the morning on Saturday, June 6 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Her husband and two sons, who had given her constant and loving support throughout her illness, were at her side. Bobi was born in Fort Fairfield on October 13, 1964, the youngest of three children. She graduated from Limestone High School and received her certification as a nurse’s aide. She was employed by People’s Heritage Bank at Loring A.F.B. and Caribou for 14 years, and was serving as Head Teller when a serious injury forced her to leave. She had a great sense of humor and was well known for her ingenious practical jokes. Bobi was totally dedicated to her family: Mike, Anthony, and Nathan were the center of her life and the source of all her happiness. Bobi loved animals. Even as a child she delighted in horseback riding and helped care for many of the neighbors’ horses. She was comforted in her illness by the affection of her pet dog, Buddy. Bobi was the prime mover in the passage of Maine LD 775, “An Act to Create a Special License Plate to Support Breast Cancer Services.” She had lost her mother and an aunt to breast cancer, and was herself diagnosed with the disease in 2002. Maine’s pink ribbon license plates are a memorial to her concern for those who suffer from the disease.
On July 13, 1985, Bobi married Michael Berube, the love of her life. Mike and their two sons, Anthony and Nathan, survive her. She is also survived by her father, Arthur Powers; a sister, Bonnie Stopa-Hill and her husband, Alan, of Ellsworth; and one brother, Tom and his life partner, Sue Graves, of Glenburn. She was predeceased by her mother, Diane Clarke Powers.
Bobi’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Ruth Collins, R.N. and Gail Phair-Kirk of Hospice of Aroostook for the constant care they provided her in the final days of her illness.
