Not too late to get involved in city’s birthday planning

To the editor:
The Caribou Sesquicentennial Committee meets every other Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Caribou Public Library, and would like to invite you to our next meeting on June 10th. Meetings are casual and refreshments will be served. We’d like your input into the events that are planned for this year. Let’s make it a year to remember for a long time to come!  Thanks are due to the Caribou Rotary Club for making our tree planting project such a success; because of their efforts as well as all community members who purchased trees, we exceeded our goal of having 150 trees planted throughout the city, as a lasting memorial to our history and this year’s festivities. Thanks also go to the Caribou Chorale Society for “celebrating our history through music” in such an enjoyable way at their recent spring concerts.
Don’t forget to go to our Web site: www.celebratecaribou.com. You’ll find lots of great information about events and opportunities to get involved, as well as how to purchase Sesquicentennial items (including the hot-off-the-press history/recipe book). You can also contact the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry for more information.
And look for us at the Maple Meadow Farm Festival in Mapleton on June 27th, where we’ll be selling our famous loaded baked potatoes; enjoy a great meal at the same time you help to raise funds to put on a great celebration. Stay tuned — there’s lots happening in Caribou this summer!
