Strange judgements

To the editor:
In response to the May 27 letter in your paper by Nicole Newcomb of Fort Fairfield. I agree with her, she is very correct in her views. We also read the court news and find it strange that people get six months in jail or prison who should get more time. The problem is the back room deals that are made between the attorneys, the judges and the District Attorney.     We have tried for years to bring this to the public awareness and it never seems to affect them. For example, if someone harvests a deer out of season to feed their family, if they are poor, the court takes their guns, their vehicle, a stiff fine and time in jail. But if you get caught harvesting marijuana, you only get a slap on the wrist. You tell me where the fairness is on that?
I want to thank Nicole for putting the article in the paper and it takes people like her to speak out and maybe things will change somewhere we can only hope and pray.
