Eagles defeat Tigers

Limestone fell to Wisdom 18-8 Thursday afternoon at home, scoring twice in the second and four times in the third inning with doubles from Sam Davidson and singles from Aaron St. Pierre and Zach Cote.     The Lady Eagles took their ninth win over Wisdom 18-4 on Thursday. Amanda Allen singled and won the game from the mount for LCS while St. Pierre singled, doubled twice and had three RBIs in the Eagles third inning 11-run stomp. Additionally, Chelsea Leighton singled three times and had an RBI.
Both Eagle teams were victorious over the Fort Fairfield Tigers on May 20 in Limestone. The LCS/MSSM baseball team defeated the Tigers in five innings, 13-3. Pitcher Danny Cote only allowed Fort Fairfield four hits and, though the Tigers sent one home at the top of the first, their two-run fourth inning wasn’t enough to extend the game to a full seven innings. For Limestone, Cote singled twice and Aaron St. Pierre doubled and singled with two RBIs. Sam Davidson contributed two singles and an RBI and, for Fort Fairfield, Josh Churchill singled twice.
The Tigers took a 17-7 loss to the Warriors of Southern Aroostook Thursday with Ian Towle suffering the loss, despite homering and doubling. Austin Dufour added another home run as the Tigers biggest inning came in the fifth, with four crossing home.
The Lady Tigers earned another win against Van Buren in their 15-3 home victory Thursday. Catcher Courtney Churchill had two home runs and a single and Tiger Amber Wasson doubled and singled twice with three RBIs. Fort Fairfield took a 10-0 lead in the first inning and scored their final four in the fifth.
Despite maintaining a one point lead until the fifth inning, the Lady Tigers were unable to defeat the Lady Warriors and Fort Fairfield’s softball team fell to Southern Aroostook 15-12 May 19 at home. Both teams were scoreless in the first inning and Fort was first to cross home, sending in seven runs at the bottom of the second.
But what looked like a strong lead and possible win turned into a premature rally, as Southern Aroostook responded with six runs at the top of the third, closing the gap by one point and then taking a short-lived lead in the fourth with four more runs. The Lady Tigers added another four runs to take the lead 11-10, but the Lady Warriors sent home another run in the fifth to tie and again in the sixth, putting the 12-11 score in Southern Aroostook’s favor. Fort Fairfield was unable to score again as Kelsie York suffered the fourth loss for the Lady Tigers. Game highlights came from Emily Wiseman, who cracked a two-run homer and a single, and from Amber Wasson, who tripled and singled for Fort Fairfield.
