Wildcat players of the week
The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Nate Ackerson and Chelsea Nickerson for being selected athletes of the week for the week for December 23-January 3. In wins over John Bapst and Central, Ackerson averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals to lead the boys’ varsity basketball team.
Nickerson scored 16 points to lead the girls varsity basketball team past Central.
Aroostook League Cheering Competition
The Caribou High School will host the 2009 Aroostook League Cheering Competition Friday, Jan. 16. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. and there is an admission fee. Adults are $5, Students are $3. Please direct any questions to the Caribou High School Athletic Department at 493-4274.
Quoggy Jo race results
Results from the Quoggy Jo race on Sunday, Jan. 11:
In girls’ 6 & under skiing, Emma Postell finished first. In girls’ 10-12 skiing, Cameo Madore came in first, and Maddy Postell crossed in second.
For the boys, in 7-9 skiing first place went to Grant Stewart. Boys’ 10-12 skiing saw Brenden Goulet in first. Collin Cassidy finished first in boys’ 13-15 skiing. In boys’ 13-15 snowboarding, Cole Farley placed first, Patrick Burnett finished second and Tom Carlton came in third.
Races are held every Sunday.
Novice hockey update
The MFX novice team played against Woodstock 2 on Saturday, and won with a final score of 8-3. Heinze Schumacher took 19 shots on goal for P.I. while the team had 11 shots on Woodstock. For Presque Isle, Thomas Patenaude scored 3, Eric Benson and Jake Stevens had 2 and Bailey York put away 1 goal. Assists came from Kyra Schumacher, Amelia Theriault and Torey Levesque. The team plays again this Saturday, Jan. 17 in Plaster Rock.
