Don’t miss history in the making

To the editor:
Just a friendly reminder about one of the most special Sesquicentennial events to be held this year as we honor Caribou’s 150th anniversary: residents are invited to our official Proclamation Day on Sunday, April 5th, which will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street. As this building was one of our town’s earliest meeting places, beginning in Caribou’s infancy, it will serve as a great venue for this official commemoration.     Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and there will be refreshments following the program. Since tickets are free but limited, we highly encourage you to get yours early at the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Caribou Public Library, or the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. (The event will be broadcast on local access television at a later date for those who are unable to attend). Historical attire is welcomed!
We look forward to gathering together to mark the beginning of the town that has nourished generations of residents for many years, as well as all that has taken place here since its founding in 1859. We hope that you can join in this special celebration of Caribou’s rich history and heritage!
