CARIBOU – Donald R. Wood, 82, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born November 24, 1926, in Nashua, NH, the son of Ralph and Lillian Wood. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy. He was married to Julie A. Lahaye on June 14, 1947. He was employed by Cary Medical Center for twenty one years as head of the radiology department and at The Aroostook Medical Center for another sixteen years as head of their radiology department. He also loved to take pictures as an active photographer.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Randall F. Wood. He is survived by his loving wife Julie A. Wood of Caribou, a son Douglas J. Wood, a daughter Deborah A. Craine and her husband Michael E. Craine, a daughter Cathy M. McDonald and her husband James M. McDonald, a son Jonathan P. Wood, twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou. Those who wish may make donations in Donald’s memory to the charity of their choice.
