CARIBOU — A local man was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct by Caribou Police following an episode when Travis Akerson, 27, created problems at his residence, then ran through the street holding a compound bow and arrow. According to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan, his department was notified Sunday afternoon regarding a disturbance at a local apartment complex. Officer Corey Saucier responded to the complaint.
At the time of the officer’s arrival, Akerson, who was not wearing a shirt, socks or shoes, was yelling and running down the street carrying the compound bow and arrow. When Officer Saucier left the cruiser, Akerson dropped the weapon.
According to police, Akerson had not been following his prescribed medications, which may have prompted the event.
Akerson is expected appear in Aroostook County Superior Court in Caribou March 19, for an initial court appearance.
