WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that the following local students were named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence during the Spring 2008 semester: • Nathaniel Freedman, son of Ms. Dale Gordon of Caribou, is a senior majoring in biochemistry.
• Matthew Richards, son of Mr. Dennis J. Richards of Caribou, is a first-year student majoring in robotics engineering.
• Natasha Deschene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Deschene of Presque Isle, is a junior majoring in civil and environmental engineering.
A total of 747 undergraduate students (about a quarter of the undergraduate population) achieved the criteria required for WPI’s Spring 2008 Dean’s List. Of those 747 students (181 first-year students, 191 sophomores, 244 juniors and 131 seniors), more than 200 received straight A’s for their work, and all earned at least four A’s during the two terms that comprised the semester.
“WPI is home to some of this nation’s brightest students. Whether studying science, technology, engineering, math or the humanities, they are clearly committed to working hard, learning and being their best,” said John Orr, provost. “We are exceptionally proud of these young men and women, and we applaud their commitment to excellence.”
