Caribou – Walter Lister, 76, went to his final resting place November 29, 2008, at Frenchville following a brief illness. He was born in Caribou August 7, 1932, the son of the late Albert and Marion (Weston) Lister. Walter was self employed and also delivered firewood in the Caribou area for many years. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was married to Elizabeth “Betty” (Violette) Lister, who predeceased him in 1982. Walter loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man who knew what a hard days work was and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed making people laugh and always left them with a smile on their face. Walter loved to dance and will now be dancing with Betty on Saturday nights forever.
Walter is survived by his six children: Allyn Lister and his wife Cheryl, Rick Lister and his wife Patricia, Terry Lister and his wife Rhonda, all of Caribou, Sherry Guerrette and her husband Jim, Lori Fowle and her husband Evert, and Evans Lister and his wife Heather, all of Vassalboro; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday December 5, 2008, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville, for providing Walter with excellent care and comfort and a special thanks to Dr. Suchan and Dr. Yang for their guidance, care and compassion during this difficult time.
