It’s that time of year, a time to pause from busy schedules and give thanks for the blessings in our lives.  Too often, the true meaning of the holidays are overshadowed by the opportunity to stuff ourselves to the point of near exploding. We over indulge on wonderful food and our dearest friends and family for company, but deep down the intent of Thanksgiving is to slow down from the daily rat race and realize how absolutely blessed we are.     The level of generosity, compassion and respect that I have seen from the community is moving. Even now – especially now, people are coming forward to help financially or by adopting animals. To date, we have 18 animals on hold and spoken for,
Turning Point, a local rock band and the Van Buren Road Lodge (VBRL) blew my socks off last week.  They graciously opened their hearts and donated the cover charge to our shelter animals. Of course, the community turned out in great numbers to support the band too and CPR was presented with a check recently for $630. If you haven’t been to VBRL – you really need to visit them. I’ll definitely be returning for dinner with the family soon.  It was a pleasure to meet the owner – what a wonderful lady!  If you haven’t treated yourself to the hearing the great talent of Turning Point, you are doing yourself a great disservice.  Their vocal and musical talents are impressive. They sounded great and I had a super time. They were worth staying up past my bedtime.
CPR is very thankful to Soderberg Construction, who loaned an office trailer to us. The trailer was parked at 6 Richards Road during the summer to be utilized for animal overflow or if needed, as an isolation unit to hold animals. Thank you to Carl for having the trailer delivered, for setting it up and for its removal. Your kindness was greatly appreciated.
There is no way all the incredible people out there could be thanked properly. The raffle drawing is Nov. 30 – there’s still time to get in the action.  Call 496-3707 to buy a chance at winning $500 worth of #2 home heating fuel. Better yet, buy one for yourself and one a worthy cause – your church, the Battered Women’s Project, a food pantry, or homeless shelter are a few suggestions. Share this opportunity with those who make a difference every day in so many lives.
May God bless you all. May you find joy and peace during the upcoming holidays. As always, the Caribou Pet Rescue Board thanks you for your support and understanding during this time.
