Living Well course
TheCaribou Parks and Recreation Department and the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging is offering a program entitled “Living Well.” The course, for adults ages 60 and older living with a chronic health condition, meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
There is a $1 per class fee and pre-registration is required. For more information, or to register, contact the recreation department at 493-4224.
Program registration continues at rec center
The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is still accepting registrations for its late-fall and winter programs.
Pre-registration is required for all programs. A summary of the programs being offered follows:
Grades 1-2 basketball meets Feb. 9-March 19, 2009. Session I runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. and Session II meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m.
Grades 3-4 basketball meets beginning this week through Feb. 4, 2009. This is a co-ed program that meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:15 p.m. Grade 4 girls have the option to play in this program or the grades 4-6 girls program.
Grades 5-6 boys basketball meets Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3-6 p.m., beginning this week and running through Feb. 5, 2009. During the first few sessions, all participants will be combined before teams will be established and play twice a week.
Grades 4-6 girls meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6 p.m. beginning this week through Feb. 4, 2009. Girls in grade 4 can choose to play in the grades 3-4 co-ed program instead.
Grades 7-8 basketball meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:45-6 p.m. Feb. 9-March 18, 2009 and is an informal program, with new teams chosen each session.
Cheerleading is for youths in grades 5 and 6 and meets Monday and Friday from 3-4:30 p.m. beginning this week throughFeb. 4, 2009. The program is designed to introduce participants to the basic skills of cheerleading, including jumps, tumbling, stunts and a long list of cheers.

Special nights planned this winter
The recreation department is offering some special evening activities.
Teens-Only Fridays will be held throughout the course of the winter and are reserved specifically for students in grades 6-8 on the following dates: Nov. 21, Dec. 5 and 19, Jan. 9 and 23 and March 6 and 20.
Both organized and spontaneous activities will be offered, with music and movies also offered occasionally.
Four Family Nights are also planned. The activities will include organized games, the use of the gym, walking track and game room, as well as some special surprises.
This is an opportunity for families to connect and have fun, therefore all youngsters must be accompanied by an adult. The scheduled Family Nights are Jan. 17 and 31 and March 7 and 21.
